The Social Security Fund of Rwanda (SSFR) yesterday awarded prizes to students in various categories in a quiz competition that was aired on Radio Rwanda.

The competition which ran for two months was organised by CSR in conjunction with ORINFOR (Rwanda Information Office), saw the winners walk away with a laptop, television screen, school fees, prize money in cash, mattresses, certificates and scholastic materials.

The ceremony which took place at the CSR headquarters in Kacyiru, was presided over by the institution’s Director General, Henry Gaperi.

The competition also entailed an essay writing competition for university students where they were required to write about the values of CSR to Rwandans.

Florence Mukashema, a 2nd year law student at the National University of Rwanda (NUR), emerged the overall winner. She walked away with a laptop, a cash prize of Rwf50, 000, a certificate and a T-shirt.

In his remarks, Gaperi hailed students for their efforts during the competition and urged them to sensitize others on the importance of the body.

Also present was Geoffrey Rugege, the Director General of the National Council for Higher Education, who thanked CSR for the programme which he said was educative to students.

"All of us need social security for our future. This exercise is therefore vital for students because they managed to learn the importance of saving for the future,” he said
The winner in the secondary school category got a cash prize of Rwf200,000 for her school fees, a mattress, certificate and Rwf50,000 worth of scholastic materials.

The best in the primary school category walked away with Rwf120,000 for school fees, a mattress and scholastic materials worth  Rwf50,000.
