THE national athletics federation (RAF) is skeptical about Rwanda’s performance in the upcoming World Cross Country Championship in Bydgoszcz, Poland after reports that some of the country’s top athletes may not get involved.

On top of Disi Dieudonné, who is certain to miss the event as he prepares for the April World marathon championships in Paris, Rotterdam and London, Sylvain Rukundo, Godfrey Rutayisire, Jean Baptiste Simukeka and Gervais Hakizimana are all major doubts.

According to RAF’s technical director, Emmanuel Murenzi, the team will be selected from the inter-club championship slated for this month.

"Selection will be based on performances from the inter-club championship but until now, we are not sure whether our top athletes will get involved,” Murenzi noted.
From 2012, the 12km event will become biennial.
