DJABIR Irankunda has completed his move to SC Kiyovu. The former Atraco midfielder joined on a two-year deal.
The right winger left Sam Timbe’s side after being frustrated by failure to secure a regular place in the taxi- men’s starting line-up but Kiyovu’s head coach Jean Marie Ntagwabira says that he is ready to give the 20-year-old an opportunity to fight for his place in the team.
"Irankunda is a good player so this is a great opportunity for him to show everyone that he can play consistently at the top level,” Ntagwabira said.
Irakunda was also part of the national U-20 team that played in the 2009 U-20 Africa Nations Cup which was held in Kigali.
Kiyovu wrapped up their first round league campaign in fifth place but Ntagwabira has not given up on the title.
"We still have a shot at the league title and MTN Peace Cup,” he added.
Kiyovu progressed to the second round of the MTN Peace Cup after a 6-2 goal aggregate win. After a 1-all draw in the first leg, Kiyovu ran amok with a 5-1 victory in the second round. Etincelles and AS Kigali also qualified for the second round.
