The Most Ideal Barbeque

Feasting on a brochette is how one would start and finish the weekend on high gear. I must admit, they are absolutely delicious; save for the helter-skelter you make before experiencing the joy. But, hey, am not the only one caught up in this razzmatazz! Brochettes are sweet, roasted, spiced up and easy to devour.

So having made it to the local bar and restaurant, at any time in Kigali, ordering a  brochette would be the next priority after getting drinks.

Since most of these local joints have a foot dragging service, you may have to wait while they go out to buy the meat. Usually they are served with plantain and sautéed potatoes which go down the gullet nice and slow, thanks to mayonnaise.

The potatoes are unrivaled! Down a beer with the meat alongside music and televisions which are always tuned to the day’s soccer game.

For a quieter drinking experience, have a Fanta citron with Uganda Waragi. Brochette barbeques aren’t always or shouldn’t be made of only goat meat and beef, fish can be well grilled as well.

Always make sure you ask whether the tilapia was today’s catch! Be adventurous and try the Sambaza which are minnows/ lake smelts served with pilipili. Tasty.

Remember, a little flirtation brings out the best of the staff for you to enjoy the rest of your barbeque. Brochettes, it’s what you crave!
