Editor, Allow me to express my concern through your paper. This issue is becoming a major concern and it has grown of late. We have been ripped-off many a time by show organisers and concert promoters who have deliberately failed to manage time well. There was a concert on Heroes day known as ‘Bye Bye Vacancy’ which many people paid to attend but unfortunately the chaos at the entrance left many people stranded with their tickets because they could not push their way through into the venue because it had only one entrance.
Editor,
Allow me to express my concern through your paper.
To complete the whole saga, it happened that even those who managed to enter did not manage to see the main act of the night Weasel and Mozey Radio perform because the organisers failed to manage their time.
No sooner had the duo stepped onto the stage that police intervened to stop the show because organisers had exceeded the agreed time of the show which was 1am.
I cannot blame the police because it duly fulfilled its duties but I blame the organisers who failed to budget their time to ensure that at least show-goers got their moneys worth.
It is disgusting to stand for 6 hours waiting for your favourite artists to perform only for them to be stopped before singing even two songs.
It’s unfair. It is equally disgusting to see promoters exchanging blows and insults with locals artists because they have refused to leave the stage.
Its better that curtain raisers are limited to one song or two (so that it doesn’t seem like they are releasing their full albums) and MCs stop wasting valuable time talking about things that don’t benefit the audience.
This has happened before, about four Concerts have been stopped, all ending up violently because people fail to respect police time, draw lessons from Meddy’s concert.
