In a build up to the World Customs day set for Friday, Feb 5, the Deputy Commissioner General of Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA), Eugene Torero, has urged all his staff to offer RRA clients quick services as a way of improving the performance of the sector.

Torero, who is also the Commissioner for Customs Services, made the call yesterday while officiating at the opening of a two - day Mini-Expo at Magerwa gardens, Gikondo to mark the World Customs business week.

"During the expo, the business community will ask questions and give us their suggestions on how they wish customs and stakeholders can deliver quick services” he said.

"Let’s transform ourselves and have a sense of urgency towards delivering quality services to the business community.”

Torero also stressed the need to partner with stakeholders in customs in order to promote information exchange and cooperation and reduce non-tariff barriers to the smooth flow of trade by jointly finding solutions to those limiting factors.

The Mini- Expo aims at bringing together stakeholders to showcase the various services they offer to the business community.

The exhibiting institutions include SDV Transmi, MAGERWA, Rwanda Bureau of Standards (RBS) and Association des Agences en Dounne au Rwanda (ADR).

Other activities to mark the customs business week include a one - day trade facilitation workshop, slated for Thursday that will table discussions on how to strengthen partnership between the customs and the business community.
