Editor,
There is a saying that goes like this, ‘There is a Hero in each one of us, discover the Hero in you …’ I refer to it because I believe in the fact that we still have a lot to build on top of what our heroes did. We should not put to waste the blood and sweat they shed for this country.
I thought about this while I listened to the President’s Heroes Day address on Monday and I liked the part where he stated that "Today’s celebrations, therefore, should remind us of the spirit of patriotism, self sacrifice, wisdom, and more particularly, the need to develop our people and society.”
Rwandans should understand that our country is all we have and changing it for the better is a collective responsibility.
The men and women we remember on the 1st of February every year, felt they were responsible for their country and that’s why most of them lost their lives.
You can be a hero/heroine in your village, school, and workplace as long as you do something that makes this country a better place to live in every passing day.
Let’s all join forces and do something that can help us confront the different economic and social problems that we face. God bless Rwanda!
