Youths challenged to emulate heroes

Youths have been urged to emulate the heroes who fought for peace in Rwanda by having determination, desire and love for the country in contributing towards its development.

The call was made by Edward Kalisa, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth during a meeting held over the weekend. The meeting brought together several youths in the city.

He urged them to always endeavor to strive for excellence in their lives, saying that this is what characterized the heroes who had great impact on the country’s development.

Woman arrested for burning husband’s house

A 42-year old woman in Kabarore sector in Gatsibo district was on Sunday arrested for allegedly setting fire on a house belonging to her husband on Saturday night. 

Marie Clare Kakuze said she burnt the house because her husband identified as Nvukiyehe was planning to bewitch her.

However, Nvukiyehe accused Kakuze of infidelity saying that he always knew that she would do something to harm him.

Kakuze who has no child with Nvukuyehe, has 7 children from past relationships.

ULK Gisenyi adopts English

The Kigali Independent University (ULK), Gisenyi campus has embarked on streamlining usage of English as the language of instruction in all courses offered at the university.

This was revealed by Aime Karimunda, vice rector in charge of academics at the Western Province based campus.
Karimunda said the university has been recruiting English-speaking lecturers.

Residents demand passion fruit farming

Residents of Mushuri sector in Nyamagabe district are demanding the district to avail them with other farming options or be allowed to go ahead with growing passion fruits after the sector was stopped from growing the fruit citing a discovered virus.

According to residents, at least ten trucks of passion fruits were being harvested from the sector which they say was a major boost to their lives.
