KIGALI - A Cabinet meeting chaired by President Paul Kagame on Friday approved new appointments and changes in the public service and government parastatals.
The changes saw the exit of Gerald Zirimwabagabo from RwandAir where he was Chief Executive Officer.
Also dropped was Bernard Itangishaka, the Executive Secretary of the Fund for Support of Genocide Survivors (FARG) while Emmanuel Muvunyi was moved from the Students Financing Agency of Rwanda (SFAR) to the Teaching Service Commission.
John Milenge, the Board chairman of Rwandair, will in the meantime "monitor daily business of the company” pending the appointment of a new CEO.
Emma Rubagumya Furaha takes over at SFAR while Ildephonse Niyonsenga was appointed the new Executive Secretary of FARG.
Emmanuel Hategeka was appointed the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, replacing Antoine Ruvebana who was transferred to the Ministry of Forests and Mines in the same post.
Prior to his new appointment, Hategeka was the Chief Executive Officer of the Private Sector Federation (PSF).
The Cabinet also appointed Hon. Bernadette Kanzayire as the Deputy Ombudsman. She replaces Immaculate Mukarurangwa, who was recently appointed Permanent Secretary in the Parliament.
In a related development, Cabinet also appointed Albert Nsengiyumva as the new Director General of Workforce Development Authority (WDA) while John Bonds Bideri was appointed Chairperson of the Board of Directors at WDA. Egide Rugamba is the new Director General in the Ministry of Local Government.
Stella Ford Mugabo was appointed the Executive Secretary at the Public Sector Capacity Building Secretariat (PSCBS).
Meanwhile, Kayijuka Ngabo was promoted from Captain to Major and appointed the Military Courts’ General Prosecutor.
The Cabinet also approved new members of the board of the Media High Council , who included Arthur Asiimwe, the Managing Editor of The New Times, Isabelle Kalihangabo, Gabriella Addolorata Uwimana, Yvette Mukarwema, Albert Rudatsimburwa, Mbabazi Faith and Faustin Gacinya.
