NATIONAL league champions APR are scheduled to play a friendly match against Jimmy Gatete’s St George next week at Amahoro stadium.
The military side will be using the friendly as part of their preparation for their Champions League tie against Angola’s Recreativo de Libolo.
According to APR’s Secretary General, Adolphe Kalisa, the ten-time league champions will play two matches against the Ethiopian champions in-between their first and return leg ties with Recreativo de Libolo.
"We want to use these two matches to test ourselves against foreign opposition before we take on Recreativo.
"St George is a big club with good players and it will provide the kind of test the team needs before the Champions League,” Kalisa told Times Sport yesterday.
He noted, "Our main target this year is to reach the group stages of the competition (Champions League).”
Should APR over come Recreativo de Libolo, they will go on to play reigning champions TP Mazembe of the DRC in the next round.
Meanwhile, the club has not yet decided on the punishment for Abbas Rassou, Didier Kapet and Xavier Cedric, who are suspended indefinitely for indiscipline.
But sources close to the club told this paper that Rassou has already been stripped of his captaincy.
