The agricultural progress of various districts in Rwanda is characterised by poor farming methods and low output which is often hastened by heavy rains or the scorching sun that destroys crops both in the wet and dry seasons respectively.

This short coming can only be overcome with an advanced technological approach to agriculture. Crops that are suitable for certain types of soil should be identified and used appropriately.

The district also holds the responsibility of looking for wider markets for the various products produced in the district to help farmers generate some income.

The District Mayor of Nyabihu Charles Ngirabatware had a good idea of supporting the residents to jointly work together in the form of Umuganda community work and plant crops in properly-prepared gardens.

Residents who prepare their gardens to the required standards automatically get free wheat seed and are assisted in the actual sowing of the seeds.

This process also includes organizing residents in groups, allocating and teaching them how to grow certain crops in particular districts for maximum production.

With proper implementation of advanced agricultural technology and unity in cooperative unions, the masses will soon be drawn out of abject poverty.
