EVERY club participating in this year’s MTN Peace Cup will receive Rwf150.000 as facilitation for every match played home and away from the preliminary round until the final stage.

The football federation commissioner in charge of competitions Boniface Nsabimana confirmed the development yesterday.

"Each club taking part in the tournament has been given the money to facilitate for their transport, meals and other necessities from the preliminary round up to the final game,” Nsabimana said.

Defending champion Atraco started the defense of their title with a slim 1-0 away to Aspor on Wednesday. Former Kiyovu and APR midfielder Jabir Mutarambirwa scored the lone goal.

Rivals APR defeated Zebres 2-0 away in Byumba. Rodriques Murengezi and Hegman Ngoma scored for Erik Paske’s side.

SC Kiyovu was stunned to a 2-all draw away to minnows Nyanza. Papy Nkunda and Eric Serugaba scored for Jean Marie Ntagwabira’s side while Muzamiru Twahirwa and Samuel Bigirimana were on target for the home side.

The return leg of the preliminary round will be played on February 3.

For the third year running, MTN Rwanda is sponsoring knockout competition whose winner represents the country in Caf Confederation Cup.
