RWANDA’S top assistant referee Celestin Ntagungira a.k.a Abegga has taken full blame for Egypt’s third goal in Monday’s African Nations Cup quarter-final clash against Cameroon.

Abegga, who signaled to South Africa’s center referee Jerome Damon that the ball had crossed the line when in actual sense it had not claimed full responsibility for the error in an email to Times Sport.

"After looking at video replays, I admit that my decision was decision and I take full blame for it,” the 43-year-old said before adding, "I hope to learn from it in future tournaments.”

It was Ahmed Hassan’s second of the night and toughened the indomitable lions’ task since they now had to score twice to force penalty shoot-outs. Egypt, who are chasing for a third successive Africa Nations Cup title came off 3-1 winners.

For today’s semi-final games, the Confederation of African Football, CAF has appointed Daniel Bennet (South Africa), Enoch Molefe (South Africa) and Hassan Bechir (Tunisia) to officiate the Ghana - Nigeria game while Benin’s Coffi Codja, Burundi’s Desire Gahungu and Martins Kennet of Nigeria will take charge the thriller between Algeria and Egypt in Benguela.
