THE world’s football body, Fifa has allocated 250 tickets to Rwanda football federation, Ferwafa ahead of this year’s World Cup finals set for June 11-July 11 in South Africa.

The Ferwafa Vice President Raoul Gisanura confirmed the development yesterday saying that only 250 tickets will be available for local fans who are interested in traveling to South Africa for the tournament.

"We have received 250 tickets from Fifa and are now making plans of how these tickets will be sold,” Gisanura said.

Ticket prices range from $900 to $80 (exclusively for South Africans and other foreigners who are working in the host nation).

FIFA has changed the format of selling tickets. Previously, tickets have been sold online but for the 2010 World Cup, Fifa decided to allocate tickets to different football federations.

Gisanura added that all non-participating countries have been apportioned few tickets compared to the 32 participating countries.

South Africa is set to become the first country on the continent to host the tournament since it’s inauguration in 1930.

Besides South Africa, other African nations scheduled to compete in the event include Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Algeria, Ghana and Cameroon.
