Youth association elects new boss

Youth Association for Human Rights Promotion and Development (AJPRODHO- JIJUKIRWA), over the weekend elected a new president to run the association for the next two years. Gakwanda Godfrey was elected to replace Emmanuel Nzeyimana who has served as the association’s president for the last two years.

Youth Association for Human Rights Promotion and Development (AJPRODHO- JIJUKIRWA), over the weekend elected a new president to run the association for the next two years.

Gakwanda Godfrey was elected to replace Emmanuel Nzeyimana who has served as the association’s president for the last two years.

At the same meeting officials presented to the members various projects that were implemented in 2009, and the results and impact on the population in the areas they have been operating in.

"We aim to push for a peaceful society where there is youth participation for social justice and descent living conditions for all, as well as empower the youth to respect human rights and advocate for socio-economic betterment.” Emmanuel Nzeyimana said.

The association said that through its projects, 521 children and vulnerable youth in Karongi and Rutsiro districts benefited from the legal aid services they provided.

It added that through the Village Saving and Loan Project, the association was able to select the poorest people of Kayonza and Nyagatare and integrate them into the saving scheme and also link them with formal sector financial services.

The association operates in the Southern, Eastern, Western Provinces as well as in Kigali City.
