Rwanda Development Board (RDB) has drawn a 10-year tourism Master plan that is expected to propel the sector to greater heights. The master plan is expected to cost a whopping $ 42m and was developed with the Ministry of Commerce in the framework of Vision 2020.

The master plan is expected to cost a whopping $ 42m and was developed with the Ministry of Commerce in the framework of Vision 2020.
Speaking to The New Times, RDB’s deputy Director of Tourism, Emmanuel Werabe, said though tourism was recording success, there was need for strategy development.
"The project took four months, it started in November 2008 up to April 2009, and thereafter we forwarded it to United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO)”.
Wereba revealed seven key tourism destinations; Kigali, Volcanoes park, Kibuye, Gisenyi, Akagera National Park, Lake Muhazi, and Nyungwe forest will be prioritized.
He added that the master plan has been done with a view of empowering the local communities around the tourist attractions.
