Teenagehood’s 2nd Chances

As teenagers, we love getting on “our way”. This is the stage we see parents as obstacles to whatever road we want to take. Sometimes parents don’t trust our decisions, sometimes they are just worried about us and from their experience they see what’s best for us. I agree, sometimes they worry extraordinarily.

As teenagers, we love getting on "our way”. This is the stage we see parents as obstacles to whatever road we want to take. Sometimes parents don’t trust our decisions, sometimes they are just worried about us and from their experience they see what’s best for us. I agree, sometimes they worry extraordinarily.

When I was in primary school, my mom confronted me about the smallest things I did, pretty useless stuff. The times she didn’t let me play with my friends, the times she got mad for my poor grades and the times I came home late. When I say late, I mean around 5:30 p.m. Since I was young, I didn’t repeat my mistakes often.

As one grows older, the rules and regulations become even more complicated and affect our lives in one way or another. But then, this is the time when some teenagers, just go out of hand and start their own life tags. Most parents want the best out of their children.

They don’t have to smile, laugh and play with you to always express their affection. I have learnt that, sometimes they have to be tough, strict and hard to deal with just to show that they care about our growth.

For the past few years, I have learnt that life does not always go in the right direction. There are always speed bumps along the way and that’s okay, it happens in everyone’s life. Sometimes we make big mistakes; other times we make small mistakes.

One of my friends says "we live and we learn” and that’s true, in life we sometimes learn through experience.

Understanding parents, will not judge you based  on the mistakes you make but will listen and try to help you out.
Some people need more time to understand stuff. This doesn’t only apply to parents, even our friends - people we live and spend time with everyday.

My friends don’t have to be perfect for me to call them "friends.” When they do something wrong, I will not deny them but help them out. May be it’s time to actually show whether you are a true friend, or even confront friends about issues holding you back.

Sometimes I have had to put my friendships on line to get the best out of them; it doesn’t have to always be happy moments and joyous times.

But most of all I have learnt that listening is the best solution when it comes to handling disputes! If you listen you will understand the other side of the story.

May be you need help; maybe you need someone to listen to you with affection, or someone to give you a second chance.

Honesty is what keeps teenagehood worthwhile, because with it, second chances are made!
