THE handball federation elected new office bearers over the weekend. The new team includes Pierre Celestine Niyonzima (president), Donesier Garuka (treasurer) while Theogene Utabarutse kept his first vice president position.

Antoine Ntabanganyimana is the 2nd vice president while former president Prudence Sebahire is now the first technical advisor.

According to Ntabanganyimana, one of the federation’s major goals is to build a formidable national team. "We want to be competitive in foreign competitions but that’s only possible if we have a formidable team.”

The new executive committee has also promised to work closely with the International Handball Federation (IHF), the Confederation of Africa Handball (CAHB), Ministry of Sports and Culture (Minispoc) and the National Olympics Committee (RNOC).

The new season opens in March with the annual Heroes tournament.
