The Sudanese Ambassador to Rwanda Hussein Awad Ali met with the Speaker of the Lower Chamber Rose Mukantabana on Friday at the Parliamentary building and discussed issues related to improving relations between the countries.

Ali was in the country on a familiarization trip that saw him meeting top government officials. The envoy last week presented his credentials as the new Sudanese ambassador to Rwanda with residence is in Kampala, Uganda.

During the meeting, Mukantabana told Ali the roles, functions and operations of the Lower Chamber of Parliament and the Senate.

Last year, a team of Sudanese parliamentarians visited their Rwandan counterparts on a tour-study.

"He appreciated the role Rwanda is taking in maintaining peace in Sudan and passed on his condolences to families of peacekeepers who died in line of duty,” reads a statement from Parliament.
