RAFIKI Uwimana put in a decent performance in the final two stages of the tour of Gabon to emerge 29th in the 550km event which climaxed yesterday in Libreville.
The youthful rider used 16 hours and 18 minutes during the six-stage race which attracted 90 cyclists from Africa and Europe.
Uwase Nyandwi and Obed Ruvogera finished 30th and 40th respectively while Team Rwanda’s captain Abraham Ruhumuriza’s poor run in the 4th, 5th and 6th stages proved fatal for the 30-year-old as he finished in a distant 43rd spot. Mathew Ladagnouns of AG2R La Mondiale won the race after using fifteen hours and 59 minutes.
In the team category, Rwanda finished 10th while French club AG2R La Mondiale emerged victorious.
