As someone who has lived in Kigali since 1994, I’ve watched this city grow each year. However, I was taken aback by the ambitious Kigali Convection Centre Complex. I wondered if we’d bitten off more than we could chew where this ambitious project was concerned.
At first my misgivings looked like they were correct. It seemed that the project wasn’t going to get off the drawing board. For months on end, nothing seemed to happen at the construction site.
But a last year came to an end, things started moving. Reading the reports that the complex is quickly progressing now that the Chinese group, which was contracted to build the project, has brought a smile to my face.
Now if they can finish the complex in the stipulated time frame, Kigali will truly enjoy a landmark that makes it stand out in the region and beyond.
