KIGALI - Gabon’s Foreign Affairs Minister Laure Olga Ngoundjout yesterday held talks with President Paul Kagame and delivered a message from President Omar Bongo. Ngoundjout told the press shortly after the meeting at Urugwiro Village that the talks centered on improving bilateral relations, given there are many continental platforms Gabon shares with Rwanda. She added that her visit was also aimed at building strong links in areas of agriculture and economic development.
 
"I have delivered a message from President Omar Bongo to his counterpart here,” she said.
She added: "Although Rwanda is stepping out of Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), there are many other bodies through which we meet, that is why it’s important to keep these ties strong.”  Foreign Affairs minister, Dr Charles Murigande said that they also had discussions on how the African Union (AU) can serve Africans better in areas of peace, security and development.

Meanwhile, the President also received a 10-man delegation of administrators from the University of Western Ontario, Canada. Education Minister Jeanne d’Arc Mujawamariya said that the team was in the country to assess reforms made by Kigali Health Institute in the teaching and learning methods.

"We came to assess how far programmes like in information technology and gender equality have gone,” Paul Davenport, the University’s president said  KHI commands an 8-year-old relationship, which includes a student exchange programme with the University of Western Ontario.
