I would like to ask why Rwanda Television is not doing what other regional broadcasting companies are doing by showing the Africa Nations Cup finals live.

Over the years, major tournaments like the Nations Cup and the World Cup, which this year will be staged in Africa for the first time when South Africa hosts the event, have been a regular feature for other East African TV’s viewers and I always ask myself what is lacking for our own TV to do the same.

The national broadcaster may say that they are not able to raise the broadcasting fees being requested by the Confederation of African Football through the continental body’s broadcast rights holder AFNEX, but does this mean that every regional TV which shows live these games paid any coin to AFNEX?

Of course not! They reached an agreement because costs were high and if you do, you can bring the Nation’s Cup finals closer to Rwandans.
