ATRACO’s head coach Sam Timbe is a depressed man after the team’s recent unconvincing run in the national football league.

The 2007 league champions have dropped four points in their last two games. After being held to a 1-1 draw against a 10-man APR side last Sunday, the taxi-men side crumbled to a 1-0 disappointing defeat against a revamped Etincelles side on Wednesday to drop to fifth place.

Victoire Manirakiza netted Etincelles’ strike to keep the side on level points with APR (23 points) at the summit of the league table.

Timbe however believes that the side’s inconsistent run is down to the fact that he is building a new team after losing most of his experienced players in the transfer window.

"I’m building a new team and it’s not easy to win matches every now and then. I have lost eight players from the team that won the 2009 Cecafa Club Championship in Sudan,” Timbe conceded.

When asked whether he will strengthen his squad after the first round, he said, "That’s up to the club management.”

With one game to crown off the first round, APR and Etincelles are tied at the top while Rayon Sport is three points off the pace.

Police and Atraco are in fourth and fifth place with 18 points apiece. Musanze and AS Kigali are in the relegation zone.

Apart from the national league, Atraco will take part in this year’s Orange African Confederation Cup, MTN Peace Cup and Kagame/Cecafa Club Championship to be held in Kigali.
