A Rwandan-born Canadian artist by the names of Didier Buzizi, was on Wednesday sentenced to life in prison by a Canadian Court after being found guilty of stabbing to death of 29-year-old Maxime Rushemaza, also a Rwandan.

Buzizi child actor-turned rapper won’t be eligible for parole for 12 years after he was found guilty last month of second-degree murder.

It is said that in August 2007, Buzizi got into an argument with Rushemaza over a bottle of liquor, and fatally stabbed his friend.

On the night of August 26, 2007, Buzizi spent the evening at a St. Denis street bar, before a group went to the after-hours club The 221 on Ontario.

Inside the club Buzizi got into an argument with Rushemaza, a fellow Rwandan refugee. Prosecutors told the court Buzizi stabbed Rushemaza while friends tried in vain to stop him.

Buzizi, 23, was arrested two blocks away from the club, carrying a knife that was covered in blood, and was charged with murder.

As a child actor, Buzizi appeared on the show Fred-dy, which was based on restaurant owners who befriend young people.

When the show ended in 2002, Buzizi began a career as a rapper, performing under the stage name Bilo Da Kid.

Buzizi was born in Rwanda, and came to Quebec as a refugee to escape the genocide in that country.
