RUSIZI - Police in Kamembe sector in Rusizi district are holding two drivers of Population Service International (PSI) after being tipped off by residents that they were involved in fraudulently selling mosquito nets.

The suspects were caught with 208 stolen mosquito nets.

Sources say that Alexander Cyubahiro, who was driving a Kigali-bound pickup double cabin carrying the nets, was arrested at a trading centre while waiting for his colleague and accomplice, Emmanuel Munyampundu.

The arrests follow a series of complaints aired on a local radio in Rusizi district where residents indicated that the distribution of mosquito nets was marred by irregularities.

However, the suspects deny the charges.
