GICUMBI – The district officer in-charge of health, Jean Paul Nshimiye and Giti Sector agronomist John Kabaharira, who were recently arrested for allegedly selling six bulls meant for poor residents under the Ubudehe program, were on Monday remanded at Miyove government prison by Gicumbi Primary Court.

"They have been remanded for 30 days, pending further investigations,” said the presiding Judge.

The duo was arrested following the ongoing cattle redistribution exercise.

According to Gicumbi district Vice Mayor for Economic Affairs, Ildephonse Butera, the suspects connived to sell off the bulls which were meant to cross breed indigenous cows.

He added that the two suspects sold the bulls on grounds that the animals had grown old.
