NGOMA—Close to 72 members recently registered for traditional informal education –itorero-in Ngoma district have escaped from the training.

According to Silver Ngaramba, who is in charge of the training, at Zaza teachers training centre, the group left without knowledge of what would take place at the camp.

"They thought that the training would be vigorous and they escaped,” Ngaramba said.

He however said that those who have stayed are enjoying much and that many new members have shown interest to join but it’s too late.

Earlier vice mayor Julius Kansime, in charge of economic affairs, urged the group of over 600 to help the government in its programme of economic revolution, in order to improve the country’s economy.

"The country earns a lot from agricultural products and in this way Rwandans contribute a lot on the country’s economy,” he said.

"When you get home put in action all that you have learnt here and help your neighbors, friends and relatives in ensuring that all these are implemented,” Kansime said.

Itorero-Informal education system was launched last month across eastern province following its recent launch by President Paul Kagame. Kansime asked the group to focus on extensive growing of crops like coffee, rice, banana and pineapple for sale.

"Rwandans should now accord sleeping little time and allocate more on working so as to develop the country’s economy,” Kansime said.

He also called for environmental conservation by planting trees and avoiding use of polythene bags. He noted that the country was spending more on imports than what it exports and called on the need to change the trend.

"But we are sure that Itorero will change this the other way round and that’s why you are here,” Kansime observed.
