JOSEPH Kabagambe has been cleared to play for Sudanese top side Al-Neel, Times Sport can establish.
SC Kiyovu’s Secretary General Jean Marie Nsengiyumva recently confirmed that they had talked to Al-Neel and that everything was in place for the former Uganda Cranes and Atraco midfielder to join the Sudanese club.
"We have reached a deal with Al Neel and Kabagambe will join them on a two-year deal. His ITC has been sent,” the SC Kiyovu official said although he declined to reveal the exact amount that Al-Neel had paid for the midfielder.
Last year, the former Express and SC Villa winger dominated headlines in Sudan during the Cecafa/Kagame Cup Championship when he pocketed US$10,000 (Rwf5.7m) as a sign-on fee, after forging a release letter to join the Sudanese outfits on a six-month loan deal.
The Hasahisa based club (100km out of Khartoum) had reportedly picked interest in the player after he scored a wonderful goal in Atraco’s 2-1 loss to El Merreikh in the 2009 Champions League return leg in Khartoum.
The taxi-men side then terminated the player’s contract soon after the tournament but three months later, Kabagambe was pardoned for breaching his contract.
After settling his differences with Atraco, he penned a one-year deal with Kiyovu and played four matches before Al-Neel came calling for a second time.
