Meanwhile, reigning champions APR showed that they are still a strong unit even without their influential defender Mbuyu Twite after cruising to a 3-1 victory over Musanze at Mumena stadium.
Bokota Labama rediscovered his sharpness in front of goal with a brace while Jean Baptista Mugiraneza a.k.a Migi, who has been linked with a move to the Germany Bundesliga, netted the third to maintain the army side’s lead at the top. For Bokota, it was his seventh goal of the season. Bertin Mbangukira scored Musanze’s consolation.
At Nyamirambo’s Regional stadium, 2004 champions Rayon Sport defeated Amagaju 2-0 courtesy of Yussuf Ndayishimiye a.k.a Kabish and Pappy Gasana.
In Huye, Mukura were stunned with a 1-2 home defeat against Marines.
Selemani Harelimana and Pappy Kamanzi guided Marines to what turned out to be their second victory. Marines, who moved to seven points after yesterday’s win are now out of the relegation zone.
Mukura’s goal was scored by Hussein Sibomana.
With one game to crown off the first round, APR and Etincelles are tied at the top with 23 points although the champions enjoy a superior goal difference.
The Blues are in third place on 20 points while Police and Atraco are in fourth and fifth place with 18 points apiece.
Musanze and AS Kigali are in the relegation zone.
