Cameroon national team head coach Rigobert Song is eyeing victory over Brazil when the two sides meet at the Lusail Stadium in the final Group G game of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Cameroon have only one point after defeat to Switzerland and a 3-3 draw with Serbia. They have to beat the five times world champions and also pray the other result in the group go in their favor for them to sail through.
Cameroon defeated Brazil 1-0 on June 19, 2003, in the FIFA Confederations Cup and Song is optimistic they can repeat that feat.
"Cameroon have beaten Brazil before, yes. So it’s not completely out there,” Song stressed.
"Obviously, this Brazilian team will be beautiful to play against. I have so much respect for Brazil, but in football, there are realities that are slightly different.
"Sometimes there is an upset, anything is possible. And that is why I am firmly convinced that we are capable."
The former Indomitable Lions skipper also indicated that his side would go all out to get the maximum points.
"We’re ready for the fight. We’re ready to give everything we’ve got.”
No African team has ever defeated or even got a draw against Brazil in the history of the World Cup.
This is going to be the third time Cameroon will be facing Brazil in the FIFA World Cup. Their first clash was during the US 94 tournament when the South Americans thrashed them 3-0 in the second Group B game on June 25, 1994. The second meeting was during the 2014 tournament in Brazil where the host nation won 4-1.
