Victoire Ingabire Umuhoza

Editor,

Apart from being chair of a recent political umbrella named United Democratic Forces (Forces Democratiques Unies: FDU), she heads a notoriously known sectarian political party, RDR. Her political agitations or gimmicks in Europe have been circumstantially documented to the tee.

It is by all standards not admissible that a person, like the flamboyant and morally bankrupt FDU CHAIR Ingabire, known to have displayed such an extraordinary degree of contempt for, and utter derision of, the Rwandan people and post-genocide political institutions, be legally fielded as candidate for president in Rwanda.

This after all the massive off-handed betrayals of post-genocide Rwanda that she has displayed for far too long; the government, parliament and judiciary of Rwanda would be ill advised to allow her room in the presidential race in Rwanda today or tomorrow.

Ingabire has been an awfully vociferous sectarian leader of the most savage sort.

There is therefore no stretch of imagination or legal allowance warranting her to hold the slightest administrative jurisdiction in Rwanda, much less talk of being a presidential candidate.

Democracy may well have virtues as a legal and political construct of modern human society’s organization, but there are minimal moral, political and legal requisites to be considered for individuals/political parties vying for major public office.

I, as person aged 60, a Munyarwanda for that matter, demonstrably acquainted with the Rwandan political scene for decades, I can challenge anyone on the validity of the moral and political credentials of the said would-be presidential candidate.
