KAMONYI – Residents of Karengera cell in Musambira sector Kamonyi district have appealed to Police to hunt down a man who allegedly defiled a 7-year-old girl, last week.

The incident happened on January 15 and the suspect, only identified as Twagira, 23, alias ‘Cyanira’, a resident of Mbari village, has been on the run since last Saturday.

Twagira allegedly pounced on his victim from her home while her parents had gone to the local market. The victim was taken to Kabgayi Hospital with medical tests confirming she had been raped.

The victim further revealed that it was the second time that the suspect had defiled her. Testimonies from residents indicated that Twagira is suspected to be in Gitarama or Kigali.
