How not to end up in a brawl at night

Being caught up late at night in a brawl is one thing one has to think twice about before taking any action. Just a second, I haven’t mentioned coming from the bar when done with the one for the road. Usually, the one for the road changes consequently to being two for the road to three, four------ and the moment you sum it all up, you can’t! The simple counting of the number of bottles downed is a trick which disqualifies your lone safety at night and a safe ride home in your Mitsubishi would be ideal, not on your ‘Footsubishi’!

A tale that I experienced on New Years Eve is one not to forget. I was caught up in family issues later in the New Year after it had just clocked one o’clock in the morning and I had just concluded my fourth for the road so I will not beat about the bush and deny that I was not a little bit tipsy.

My siblings and I had agreed earlier that I was to pick them up from church at around that time, but guess what; I did not have a car to drive them home safely though home was just a few miles away from church. Our slow trek went on through the dark streets and as we were nearing our neighbourhood, some two burglar-looking men stopped us.

No offence, but these dudes certainly looked as if they were ready to rip our hearts out if we didn’t produce any cash. The moment they started trying to shake my already cowered young sisters’ hands, I kindly offered them my last coins for them to leave us alone to continue home.

To my bewilderment, these guys jammed my New Years treat and started trying to get hold of my sisters’ attention but I blocked their rough advances as we endeavoured to free off ourselves from the situation.

The look on my young siblings’ faces was one that would make you think that their hearts were beating out of their chests anytime from then.

I began to frantically search for a solution that would free us and leave everyone unscathed. Thank dear God, at that moment an armed night neighbourhood guard was patrolling. He asked the two fellows what was going on. "Nothing,” replied the already freaked dude.

Phew! We were all free at last for the rest of the night. "That was too close to being a brawl that would maybe have had the grim hand of the reaper up against us!”

I sighed. Back in the hang out places, I have since decided not to dish out any nastiness when high to anyone around. Just keeping it cool and minding my own business is my go-get it motto; even when provoked to the limits whereby I just move out and speed off to another comfort zone.

Maybe with the safety issue in check, spending time postponing my leaving time will stop and I will buy that car for good heaven’s sake.
