Robert Asiimwe is the Acting General Manager of Umwalimu Saving and Credit Cooperative (SACCO), a teacher’s credit and saving scheme. Below he tells us briefly what his typical working day starts and ends:

I wake up at 6a.m and listen to news particularly from BBC and Radio Rwanda.  After a shower I have breakfast and leave for work.  I get to the office at 7:30. Before I start on the day’s schedule, I first complete the pending work.

My work comprises receiving clients with various loan requests, coordinating staff and the credit department in the 15 branches. It also involves settling cases of any unsatisfied teachers with the cooperative’s staff.

I have lunch between 1 and 2p.m during the hour break. I am meant to work up to 5p.m, but I sometimes find myself leaving office beyond that.

When I leave work, I might check on some friends to enjoy the evening together. But I will be home latest 9p.m. I sometimes listen to music, news and watch movies.
I have supper at 9:30p.m and get to bed at 10p.m.
