BUGESERA –  A delegation from General Electric (GE) and American Company and the African American Forum (AAF) have promised to support health care systems in Bugesera district during a visit to Nyamata hospital on Wednesday.

Deb Elam, the Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer of GE, said they look forward to meeting the local leadership so as to deepen their understanding of local needs.

Deb Elam, who is also the executive member of the AAF said, "We want to discuss further how GE can partner with local leaders to help deliver localised infrastructure solutions in energy, water management, health care, oil and gas among other key sectors and help grow the country together.”

The hospital’s director, Dr. Dariya Mukamusoni, said they have received an assortment of new equipment from GE which have improved service delivery. 

She said with the new equipment, patient referrals have been significantly reduced, since most of the cases that need artificial oxygen can be handled.

She however, added that the lack of skills to operate some of the equipment has forced them to store the much needed equipment.

GE also offered to train staff in different sectors, so that they can acquire the needed skills.  

"The work GE has done to uplift the standards of this hospital is unspeakable. They picked us from almost zero level, to this satisfying stage you can see today,” she said.
