MUSANZE – About 48 workers who worked on the construction of the Musanze- Shingiro road in Musanze district have appealed to the government to intervene following a delay in the payment of their wages.

The 12km road stretch which links three sectors of Kinigi, Shingiro and Musanze was constructed by Helpage construction firm.

The workers claim the company has failed to pay them Rwf184m.

One of the complainants, Omar Maganya said he supplied fuel worth millions which has not been paid.

He said that they have been demanding the payment for the last eight months in vain. The case was allegedly reported to police but the coordinator of the firm in Musanze district, Cassier Nzabonimpa, a Burundian national, has since disappeared.
