Nabahire takes over Rwamagana

RWAMAGANA – The Rwamagana District Advisory Council has elected Anastase Nabahire as the interim Mayor of Rwamagana district replacing Valens Nezirembo who resigned recently. Nabahire was elected after beating Nehemiah Uwimana in the election. Both have been members of the council. Nabahire works with TIG as the Assistant Secretary General.

RWAMAGANA – The Rwamagana District Advisory Council has elected Anastase Nabahire as the interim Mayor of Rwamagana district replacing Valens Nezirembo who resigned recently.

Nabahire was elected after beating Nehemiah Uwimana in the election. Both have been members of the council. Nabahire works with TIG as the Assistant Secretary General.

The election that was overseen by Eastern Province Governor, Dr. Ephraim Kabaija was conducted at the district head quarters in Rwamagana town on Monday.

Earlier, Kabaija enumerated the problems the district has been facing, pointing out that they were due to poor leadership.

Rwamagana, he said, is strategically located, and should have taken advantage of its proximity to Kigali city to foster develop.

"The district receives enough rains throughout the year. It is connected to other areas in the country with tarmac roads,” he said. "It should be developed. But this seems not to be the case.”

He reminded the contestants to always take up leadership positions basing on informed decisions.

Emile Mutunze, the chairman of the council thanked the councilors for the calmness with which they elected the new leader.

He urged them to always be ready to serve whenever they are called upon without hesitation.

On his part, the new Mayor thanked the members of the council and promised to serve diligently.
