Ibuka, the umbrella organisation for the survivors of the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi has condemned the continued killing of genocide survivors and called upon security organs to do more to protect them.

The body also rapped the judicial organs for not doing mush to try perpetrators who have continued killing the survivors.

A statement signed by Ibuka president, Theodore Simburudari, said that the judiciary has not provided adequate protection for the survivors in the past 15 years.

"We find judicial authorities have not done enough to arrest and try those who kill the Genocide survivors,” the communiqué read in parts.

The communiqué short lists about 26 people killed in 2009 including children who were killed in a grenade explosion recently.

Simburudari says that before the incident, a number of death threats addressed to the children’s father were reported but nothing was done.

"In December 25, 2009 unknown people uprooted this man’s crops. While December 31, they killed his cow and he had notified all the relevant authorities including police,” the Communiqué reads.
