BUGESERA -  The visiting youth from 22 countries who are attending an international leadership conference in Nyamata, Bugesera district at the weekend joined residents in the construction of a nursery school in Mayange sector. 

During the activities, Dr. Ephraim Kabaija, the Governor of Eastern Province, reminded residents that the development of their area will depend on their own efforts.

He appealed to them to work towards the betterment of their children and eradication of poverty. 

He thanked the youths for visiting Bugesera, adding that Rwandans now work together despite the dark history due to reconciliation drives. 

Louis Rwagaju, the district Mayor, thanked the youth for their efforts towards the construction of the nursery school. 

"By taking part in this school’s  construction, the youth demonstrate that they care for the children,” he said.
 "I am thus not surprised that they are involved in good leadership programmes. It is all about concern for the needy.”

Professor Otunu who led the youth delegation said that they have learnt a lot in the general leadership of Rwanda.

He said that even though Rwanada is still battling with rural poverty, just like other developing countries, its future looks bright. 

"Rwanda is working hard to end poverty. Our participation in the community work is to demonstrate that people need to work together in order to succeed,” he said. 

He promised to mobilise funds around the world to help the school grow to the required standards.
