GATSIBO - Four people where on Thursday killed by lightning in Kiziguro Sector, Gatsibo District.

In an interview with The New Times, the Sector Executive Secretary, Emmanuel Ntagungira, identified the deceased as Jean Bosco Ngendahimana 18, Theoneste Muvunyi 9, Providence Mukantwari 30 and one 15-year-old boy only identified as Niyireba.

Ntagungira said that the deceased were killed as they sought shelter during a heavy down pour.

"They had come to the market in Mbogo cell when heavy rains hit. They started seeking for shelter on a veranda at a nearby home which was struck by lightning,’ he said.

According to Ntagungira, three other people injured during the incident were rushed to Kiziguro hospital.
