RWAMAGANA – Dr. Ephraim Kabaija, the Governor of Eastern Province has called upon the business community to invest in local education and health sectors.
He said this while addressing several top provincial officials and other members of the community that had gathered in Rwamagana for an end of the year party.
The Governor said that the province has achieved a lot in the past year, however, there are more demanding issues to sort out especially in the areas of education and health.
"The good leadership of this country has created an environment, suitable for economic development that most of the world admires today,” he said. "Locally we need more investments in key areas like education and health.”
"We have a long way to go, which is why, I call upon leaders at any level to work hard to push our communities out of poverty,” he said.
Kabaija said that famine in the sectors of Rwemiyaga and Matimba was among the main challenges encountered in 2009. He also attributed poverty in the area to the lack of population control.
