NYAGATARE – The building constructed as headquarters for Eastern Province in Nyagatare district has been allotted to Umutara Polytechnic University.

The developments are a result of a directive which saw the provincial offices being relocated to Rwamagana district.

Speaking to The New Times in a telephone interview on Tuesday, the university Vice Rector in charge of administration and Finance, Richard Kalimba confirmed the developments.

‘We have been allocated the building which previously belonged to the Ministry of Infrastructure. We have a letter from the Governor of Eastern Province allowing us to use the building,’ he said. "The building still needs some refurbishment, but we are optimistic that very soon we will have started using it.”

According to Kalimba, the complex will be used as offices and lecture halls.

This year, close to 1,500 government sponsored students will be enrolled at Umutara Polytechnic University.
