KIGALI - At least 26 babies were born on New Year’s Eve in major maternity hospitals. A mini survey conducted by The New Times in four hospitals of Kigali, including CHUK, Muhima Maternity Hospital, Hopital la Croix du Sud (kwa Nyirinkwaya) discovered that 15 of the newborns were girls.
KIGALI - At least 26 babies were born on New Year’s Eve in major maternity hospitals.
A mini survey conducted by The New Times in four hospitals of Kigali, including CHUK, Muhima Maternity Hospital, Hopital la Croix du Sud (kwa Nyirinkwaya) discovered that 15 of the newborns were girls.
According to Dr. Esperance Uwayezu ofMuhima Hospital, a pair of twins, both girls, were delivered successfully at mid night and six hours later, the happy mother was discharged from the hospital.
Muhima Hospital recoded 12 babies, eight of them girls. Two girls and one boy were delivered at CHUK,.
Marie Claire Dusabe, the mother of one of the baby girls said she did not expect this baby on this date.
"I thought the baby would come sooner, I have been expecting her between December 27 and 29 but the infant had her own ideas about which year she would enter the world and I am so proud of her good memorable birthday,” said Dusabe, proudly beaming at her baby.
Kibagabaga Hospital was blessed with 5 babies all boys, while La Croix du Sud, a private maternity hospital located in Remera, registered six babies, one boy and five girls.
