Olive Mukanyamurasa, the Social Affairs Manager at Kigali memorial centre said the exercise aims at giving these widows decent homes.
One of the beneficiaries, Jacqueline Kagirimpundu a mother of four children, approached the memorial centre asking for help in renovating her house that didn’t have windows and was leaking.
"I can’t believe that I’m going to live in a house that has cement, a ceiling and windows. I was living like an animal,” said Kagirimpundu.
Kagirimpundu’s house is one of 118 houses built in Kinyinya for the genocide survivors by FARG.
