Through my bedroom window, I gaze at the beautiful flowers and trees in the compound appreciatively. And as I admire on, a surge of pain runs through my heart. However beautiful the compound is, it’s not my personal home. It’s still my sister’s habitat and a person my age should have their own house. What happened to my 2009 resolutions? Running through my bookshelf, I find the list of resolutions I wrote when 2008 was ending.

However beautiful the compound is, it’s not my personal home. It’s still my sister’s habitat and a person my age should have their own house.
What happened to my 2009 resolutions? Running through my bookshelf, I find the list of resolutions I wrote when 2008 was ending.
Getting my own house, marrying, seeking God more, investing in business and …name it. Among the points on the seemingly endless list, I had fulfilled none.
Probably we are in the same boat; your achievements for 2009 are next to none. As you read through the list, you hardly stop blaming yourself for being such a lazybones. You are so furious with yourself and wish you had more time.
However, the days to 2010 are countable and reality is ‘2009 has vanished without you making good use of it’
Save for the 2009 resolutions, many have made awful mistakes that they record 2009 as the worst year ever.
Say divorce, getting arrested, cheating, falling out with family….name it. Amidst the few achievements, you can’t wait to bid farewell to 2009 because of all the untold suffering it has put you through.
Certainly, you find no meaning in ushering in 2010 for you think the misfortune will follow, all the way.
It’s high time you faced reality and came up with a solid solution to catch up with the lost time. Life avails a second chance though people never utilize it. You can’t stay down forever.
The best thing to do is look at the resolutions and analyze why they were never accomplished.
Maybe you lost focus or the guts that you started the year with. Or it’s your family and friends who discouraged you, whichever step you took. Perhaps it’s laziness that had the best of you.
Whichever reason it was, the perfect cure is heroically facing it. Error is to human, all that counts is having the strength to carry you out of the imperfection. Probably everyone has lost the trust in you, so it’s upon you to restore the lost trust. Just stand up and shine in the New Year.
Focus on making up for the malfunction of 2009. If needs be, attempt failure by failure. And as you tackle them, give it your best. For instance if you dodged exams in 2009, make an effort to pass with flying colours in 2010.
Maybe it’s a business that collapsed, come up with effective strategies to make it thrive come 2010.
Is it family that you’ve disappointed? Sincerely apologise and keep at your best behaviour to touch their hearts.
And certainly God, probably you’ve had a horrifying relationship with Him throughout the year.
Then repent and keep Him as close as you can, this year.
Some mistakes are irreparable but there is always a way through.
Real people aim at their past failure to build a satisfying future. And to a wise man, a mistake is a lesson. Like they say; experience is the best teacher, testing the sour waters in 2009 should be a motivation towards a better future and completing 2010.
Just avoid repeating chronicle mistakes that hindered you then, you’ll see how swiftly you’ll thrive. The sky is the limit.
