Claude Ntakirutimana, 28, was on Sunday 20 stabbed to death near his home after sharing a drink with his assailant at a nearby local bar.
According to Police sources, the incident happened at around 8.00pm after the two revellers had engaged in an argument over an unpaid debt.
Reliable information indicates that the assailant, Jacques Nkurunziza, who is an uncle to the deceased is also said to have had differences emanating from what amounted to be a love triangle in which both seemed to have shared the same woman.
The two are said to have been having a sexual relationship with one Christine Uwera whose husband is doing time in prison.
"Sharp differences between the two has been simmering for some time, Ntakirutimana’s request to be paid could have been the spark that resulted in his fatal death,” said the Police source.
On the fateful night, Ntakirutimana is said to have demanded payment for the 830 bricks he supplied to Nkurunziza. The two are said to have engaged in a heated argument over the payment at a local bar in which both went their separate ways. Sources said that Nkurunziza was not done yet and moments later, he stormed Ntakirutimana’s house in which in the ensuing fracas he was stabbed to death by Nkurunziza.
