Editor, I never knew that the Girinka was so controversial. I thought that it was a matter of giving the neediest people in society the means to improve their lives. That’s why I was shocked to find out that people who shouldn’t have been able to get those vital heads of cattle were the ones with them. That is why I’m totally supporting the Government’s issuance of a final deadline to individuals who are accused of illegally benefiting from the ‘One Cow per Poor Family’; they must return the cows not later than February 1 next year.

That is why I’m totally supporting the Government’s issuance of a final deadline to individuals who are accused of illegally benefiting from the ‘One Cow per Poor Family’; they must return the cows not later than February 1 next year.
In fact, giving those unscrupulous local leaders forty-five days to return the cows are too many.
They should be forced to return them immediate or face arrest and jail time. While this might seem a simple matter to some, but one has to understand that the Girinka project was set up to develop animal husbandry for milk and provision of manure to support poor households across the country.
When one steals these cows, they are contributing to child malnutrition and all sorts of social ills. We want our cows to go to the right people!
