RWAMAGANA – A woman who is still at large abandoned a 7 month baby at the door steps of Rwamagana Catholic Church on Saturday. Pandemonium ensued when a Church night watch man discovered the baby at the Church’s door he was trying to open. “I tried to push the door as usual, but it was not moving…I imagined that some stubborn young boys had placed a stone at the door. I was mesmerized when I discovered a baby wrapped in clothes,” said the night watchman.
RWAMAGANA – A woman who is still at large abandoned a 7 month baby at the door steps of Rwamagana Catholic Church on Saturday. Pandemonium ensued when a Church night watch man discovered the baby at the Church’s door he was trying to open.
"I tried to push the door as usual, but it was not moving…I imagined that some stubborn young boys had placed a stone at the door. I was mesmerized when I discovered a baby wrapped in clothes,” said the night watchman.
The baby was later handed over to Agnes Dusengimana, a nurse in Sake sector, who had for long been looking for a child to adopt.
"I grew up as an adopted child…I have been dying to do the same, so that I could help a child grow as I did. That I have got the baby is a great achievement to me,” she said.
Charles Kanyenganji, the Executive Secretary of the area said some young mothers are becoming irresponsible, because of the way they get pregnant.
"These are young girls and other irresponsible mothers that get pregnant in an unplanned manner,” he said.
Local leaders added that they won’t go for futile search of the mother, since the adopter had a recognized address.
