Bottom side Mukura announced their return to business in the league with a 1-0 victory over ten-time league champions APR yesterday at Huye stadium, while Musanze frustrated table leaders Atraco following a goalless draw at Ruhengeri stadium.
Akite Mudeyi scored the only goal of the game on the 43rd minute as the Southern Province giant rose to 11th position on the table standing.
It was also another disappointing afternoon for the six-time league champions Rayon Sport who lost 1-2 to visitors Etincelles at Nyamirambo stadium.
Claver Muhire and Jean de Dieu Hakorimana scored for the Gisenyi based side to keep them joint top with Atraco. Both side have 13 points and are only separated by goal difference. Pappy Gasana scored the consolation for the Blues.
Etincelles fielding a group of youthful players were effective in all departments, displaying excellent short and looked confident with the ball.
Hakorimana who was later given a red card for two bookable offences, beat Bon Fils Twahirwa and Aimable Rucogoza to chip a loose ball past goalie Faisal Kanene while Muhire unleashed a strong shot.
Elsewhere, Police defeated Marines 4-1 at Umuganda stadium while Amagaju defeated AS Kigali 3-0 in Nyamagabe. Fabrice Twagirimana, Leandre Sekamana, Roger Tuyisenge and Jimmy Gatete were on target for Police.
Atraco and Etincelles jointly lead on the league standings with 13 points in five matches played this season.
Defending champion APR and Rayon Sport are tied on ten points each and lie on third and fourth positions on the league standings.
League action continues this afternoon when Jean Marie Ntagwabira’s Kiyovu take on Electrogaz at Nyamirambo stadium.
